KATIA SILK twine is a medium-weight handspun silk twine. This multi-colored knotty twine varies in thickness and is fragile. Beautiful as an accent or wrapping to create texture. Not strong enough on its own to firmly hold items together, but creates a beautiful accent when tied around a single invitation.
Comes wound on a hand-carved, raw wood antique-style spool.
Each of our silk twines is created from silk cocoons sustainably gathered from a protected forest in eastern India. The cocoons are gathered after the moths have left the cocoon, so this silk twine would also be referred to as "peace" silk or Ahimsa silk {meaning: "nonviolence"}. Each part of the cocoon is used, creating no waste. The varying textures and widths reflect the varying parts of the cocoon.
